Every day, our clients make millions of transactions on the financial markets. To do this, stockbrokers rely on us to provide accurate information and our reputation depends on ensuring that money is transferred effectively once their decisions have been made.
Manchester's Banking Operations team plays a crucial role in supporting our clients' investments, from capturing the instruction to move cash right through to investigation following the transfer.
People in this team have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in Brussels and our Treasury Operations department, and also liaise with counterparts in the US and Asia.
This area of the organisation is a great platform for learning about other functions of BNY Mellon whilst developing a distinct set of technical and interpersonal skills.
Within this umbrella team are several specialisms:
Ideal candidates: Banking Operations roles require team players and individuals who have the desire to improve existing processes and performance in order to provide an innovative approach to meeting a client's specific needs.
Liquidities candidates should be comfortable working under pressure, whilst the client-facing work carried out by the Investigations team requires exceptional communication skills.
Processing team members need to make decisions quickly and work to deadlines, while Account Administration candidates need to have an eye for detail.
In a live, constantly changing environment our clients need to be alert to market forces and global financial events which may affect their investments.
The Global Corporate Events department is responsible for capturing, notifying and processing all events announced by companies/issuers which may impact or affect BNY Mellon clients' shareholdings.
The team gathers information from a wide variety of sources, including other departments and third parties in order to reconcile positions and compile client instructions to send to the market.
Ideal candidates: Roles within Global Corporate Events require candidates who can prioritise and manage their daily work load efficiently and work effectively and accurately in high pressure situations.
The changing value of our client's investments in the financial markets means that providing dividend and interest payments and tax reclaim services requires an impressive understanding of the custodian banking industry.
This team serves UK clients such as pension funds and liaises closely with external financial organisations and other departments within BNY Mellon.
As well as developing knowledge of the industry, these roles give employees the opportunity to specialise in areas which interest them and become in-house experts for wider teams.
Ideal candidates: People who are self-motivated, conscientious of clients' service expectations and keen to build their knowledge of custodian banking are well suited to Income and Taxation positions.
Investment Support Services team play a crucial role in ensuring that a number of departments within our Manchester operation receive up to date and accurate information from more than 30 markets globally.
As well as ensuring client service level agreements are met, these positions involve acting as a linchpin for our internal teams and responding to a diverse range of enquiries.
Ideal candidates: People who are well suited to Investment Support Services positions tend to be good at managing their own time and workload, play close attention to detail and enjoy problem solving. Those who are interested in working in a challenging environment and have strong communication skills will thrive in these positions.
Our global client base requires us to move money in a number of currencies and to do this effectively our Foreign Exchange and Money Market trade settlement offices in London and Brussels are supported by our Treasury team in Manchester.
The department consists of processing teams tasked with ensuring accurate and timely settlement of deals and control teams that provide support and reporting for the department.
Ideal candidates: For roles in this department, candidates need to be suited to a fast paced, deadline driven and continually evolving environment. We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and quality focused individuals who understand the need to function as part of a team whilst accepting personal responsibility for the timely resolution of problems and client queries.
Our clients require a full range of services which provide a central location for securities instruction processing, settlement of securities transactions and safekeeping within the investment lifecycle of an asset.
UK Settlements is a fast-paced environment where the team quickly adapts to new situations actioning all client instructions and assigned tasks within specified deadlines in order to deliver a high quality service.
Ideal candidates: UK Settlements roles require candidates to be risk aware and maintain a strong attention to detail whilst working to tight deadlines. Ideal candidates need to be self-driven, flexible and quick to adapt to changing situations.
