Our Learning & Development department blend training, qualifications and regular reviews to ensure the Manchester team gains the skills and understanding required to succeed. All training incorporates aspects of e-learning, paper-based and face-to-face learning to ensure the most appropriate method is selected based on the individual, their role and their career aspirations.

Upon arrival at BNY Mellon, every employee undertakes a specially developed 15 day course designed to ensure that they are confident in their understanding of our company and the wider financial services sector. This induction training won a coveted National Training Award from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the highest accolade in the field of training across both public and private sectors.
The course ensures that whatever your level of experience or background, you have the essential knowledge and skills required to begin your career at BNY Mellon.
Once established in your role, we will support you if you choose to undertake further qualifications from leading industry bodies such as:

Training

- The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants: the ACCA is the largest professional accountancy body within the UK with over 320,000 members and offers a range of qualifications within the discipline.
- The Chartered Financial Analyst Institute: the CFA Institute's professional programme is made up of a number of levels and takes three years to complete.
- The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants: the CIMA provides internationally respected management qualifications at a number of different levels to help you build your skills as you progress through your career.
- The Securities & Investment Institute: provides various FSA recognised examinations for advising on securities, corporate finance investments, administration and managing investments.
We may also provide financial support for further studies where a clear business need can be demonstrated.
Specialist qualifications
BNY Mellon's Learning & Development team has worked in partnership with leading training and academic bodies to develop unique and highly relevant industry qualifications which our employees in Manchester can undertake*:
- Advanced Apprenticeship in Investment Administration: This Government-backed, high-level technical qualifications offers GCSE and A-Level entrants the chance to develop skills, training and experience in their chosen industry at the same time as being in paid employment.
We developed this qualification in conjunction with Skills Solutions, the largest work-based learning provider in Manchester. It is the first of its kind in the UK and enables people with an interest in financial services to study the management of assets such as securities and investments.
- Financial Services BA (Hons) part-time degree at Manchester Metropolitan University: This programme has been specifically designed to provide a pathway to a higher education qualification for those with relevant vocational qualifications and work experience. BNY Mellon worked closely with MMU to develop the course and ensure students develop key sector knowledge and skills which will help their financial services careers.
